This is a brand new, start up company, but it already has a bold vision for change. I Spot Compassion is truly targeting the roots of the potential solutions and problems our world faces: the next generation. By giving the youth a chance to discover community outreach and service they truly care about, I Spot Compassion helps open the next generation to a world of service that not only makes a difference but also helps support the beliefs and interests of the youth involved.
I Spot Compassion takes the ideas of connection and social networking popularized by MySpace and Facebook and turns it into an innovative approach to community outreach. Students are able to create an account, much like on Facebook, to log community service hours, connect with other like-minded teens, and discover service opportunities in their local area. If this website becomes even a tenth as popular as Facebook, the entire world would become a network of people who care and make a difference, a web of positive change.
I Spot Compassion holds a strong vision of a world in which people, especially teenagers, do community service and other acts of compassion not because they have to for high school credit or college admittance, but because they truly want to. The organization seems to be filled with positive thinking and visionary leaders. I think the organization will speak to the youth and anyone who is a parent or is involved in a young person’s life.
It is very important to begin community service that the person can truly care about, at a young age. The goal of connecting volunteers through internet social networking is visionary and expansive and, if accomplished, could make a huge impact on the world of community service.
This model, if successful, could most definitely be used in other communities around the country, and the world, and is, in fact, designed with this kind of expansion in mind. If the teens get involved, they form an organization more powerful than any seasoned group, that can truly implement the energy and innovation of young passion and compassion, anything is possible! I believe that the program does fill a growing need for youth to look into community service at an early age, and a place to log and coordinate community outreach events. I believe that whenever someone is inspired to do a good deed we become more and more connected to humanity and the world as a whole.
This is a unique organization because it attempts to harness the power of youth and community service. When I was in high school, I would have loved such a helpful and innovative tool to help me not only log my community service hours, but also connect with other local teens who want to make a difference.
